Chris Berry has been on the FoHVOS Board since 2009 and has been Secretary since May 2013. He retired from a career in Environmental Engineering and Safety in 2006. His most recent position was Director of Health, Safety & Environmental Engineering at GlaxoSmithKline/Block Drug Company, a position he held for 16 years. Prior to that, he held similar positions with several other companies since completing his B.S. in Environmental Engineering at Purdue University in 1981. He also has a B.S. in Forest Management from Purdue and is a Registered Environmental Manager.

Chris is passionate about the stewardship of our open spaces and volunteers countless hours of his time working on the preserves, building and maintaining trails, improving access and battling invasive species. He has chaired the FoHVOS Stewardship Committee since 2009 and the FoHVOS Board Development Committee since 2015. He enjoys working with youth and has advised several Eagle Scout candidates on trail related projects. Chris is also a volunteer Teacher/Naturalist at the Stony Brook – Millstone Watershed Association where he teaches nature and environmental programs to students on field trips.

Chris has lived in Hopewell Township near Hopewell Borough since 1989. His two adult children work professionally in the environmental area with Jessica at The Nature Conservancy and David with an environmental consulting firm. One of his hobbies is the propagation of native plants and he is undertaking a multi-year project to convert two acres of lawn into a meadow of native wildflowers and grasses. Chris is also an avid outdoor enthusiast enjoying cycling, hiking, snorkeling and other similar activities.
