Beth has 15 years of experience in stewardship and education. She graduated from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown with a degree in Environmental Science and has worked at the Stony Brook Millstone Association, Washington Crossing State Park Nature Center and Hunterdon County Parks before becoming a Land Steward for FoHVOS in 2010.
Beth leads extensive Community Conservation projects on both public and private lands. She organizes restoration planting and maintenance efforts and recruits volunteers for special projects. She is responsible for maintaining FOHVOS meadows by getting them mowed on a regular basis and keeping them free from invasives. Beth is also responsible for the Summer Triangle Project and the restored garden at Baldpate; she maintains the triangles and the garden with the assistance of volunteers. She works with Residential Community Conservation program landowners to implement stewardship strategies on their property and surveys for the removal of invasive plants, as well as helping program participants with layout of their plantings and recommendations for care.
Beth also leads the FoHVOS and Strike Team interns, volunteers, public outreach and partner coordination activities. She provides training and tracks eradication efforts utilizing NJ IPC Connect. She has extensive experience with supervising FoHVOS summer interns and implementing restoration projects utilizing scores of volunteers. She coordinates the Clean Communities Program twice a year. Beth also akes the lead on Citizen Science: she coordinates volunteers for the Christmas Bird Count, the Great Backyard Bird count and the Fourth of July Butterfly Count. She maintains FoHVOS’s eBird account. Beth leads the American Kestrel Nest Box Program, which includes communicating with landowners, coordinating with state experts, and monitoring nest boxes through the spring and summer. Additionally, Beth assists with the planning and implementation of the NJ Invasive Species Strike Team, including managing the Strike Team Facebook page and IPC Connect.
