The United States Forest Service has awarded the Strike Team a third Landscape Scale Restoration grant allowing us to assist with implementation of strategic invasive species management plans that we developed during our previous grant – the aim of these plans is effective and efficient strategies that improve forest health.

Strike Team staff will provide over 5,000 hours towards invasive plant control on public preserves and 30 private lands covering over 9,000 acres. In addition to mitigating impending threats and improving ecological health of forest lands, we will be providing six field training workshops on project properties to facilitate knowledge transfer and celebrate successes. New Jersey Audubon will be completing a Forest Stewardship Plan and restoring forests in Cape May. The Sourland Conservancy will be planting 15,000 trees on public and private lands.

Fun Fact: Through the first two years of the grant, private landowners have provided 7,700 hours of match leading to the removal of many thousands of invasives!
