Ridge and Valley Conservancy — Protecting Rare Species

Partnering with Ridge and Valley Conservancy, the Strike Team is working on eradicating a large population of Tree-of-Heaven located at the Pine Pond Preserve. The species is highly threatening to rare plant species which are unique to the limestone forest community. There has also been the discovery of New Jersey’s first known escaped population of Japanese Spirea, which we also treated! We intend to do a follow up treatment in 2019 which will completely eradicate both of these species at the Preserve.
