Morristown National Historic Park – Strategic Invasive Plant Control

The NJ Strike Team has been tasked with targeting the newly discovered Photinia fraseri population which is so far not known to occur anywhere else in New Jersey. This species is related to the well known Oriental Photinia. In addition, the Strike Team will also be targeting populations of Jetbead, Winged Burning Bush, Border Privet and Oriental Photinia. While controlling these species is important, the Strike Team will also seek to keep ‘clean areas clean’ by working to remove small amounts of invasive species from otherwise invasive-free areas to thwart the development of new large infestations that would degrade relatively health forest areas.
